Huntington Beach hosts an amazing amount of special events each year, such as the U.S. Open of Surfing, equestrian competitions, professional beach volleyball tournaments, outdoor concert series and Shakespeare in the Park. There are literally dozens of events each month. There is never a shortage of things to see and do in Huntington Beach. Below are some of the major events.
Disc Golf Tournament – starting in April, enjoy the nation’s first 18-hole (basket) disc courses in beautiful Central Park in Huntington Beach. Two-round tournaments are held the first Saturday of each month with all divisions invited to play. Cash prizes are awarded.
NSSA Junior Surfing Competition – free to watch.
Art-A-Faire – a popular shopping event that runs May through October, two weekends per month, at the outdoor Pier Plaza adjacent to the Huntington Beach Pier.
Farmer’s Market – held weekly each Friday at the outdoor Pier Plaza adjacent to the Huntington Beach Pier.
Annual Saturday Sunrise Car Cruisers – billed as “The best free car show in the world.” This Saturday morning event has been a tradition for over 15 years.
Bolsa Chica Foundation Wetlands Tour – First Saturday of every month. This is a free, guided, 90-minute tour along the walkbridge and loop trails of the wetlands along the Pacific Coast Highway.
Concours d’Elegance Classic Car Show – this annual classic car show features hundreds of prestigious vehicles displayed on the lawns of Central Park. Proceeds benefit the Huntington Beach Library Children’s Resource Center.
Annual Fireworks Show from the Pier – the annual celebration includes fireworks at the beach. For price of admission, guests receive a picnic dinner and best seats in the house to watch the fireworks that are launched from a barge on the Pacific Ocean.
US Open of Surfing & Beach Games – Located at the Huntington Beach Pier – free admission.
Annual City of Huntington Beach Distance Derby – Orange County’s oldest road race event, an annual event for over fifty years.
Annual Huck Finn Fishing Derby – held at the Huntington Pier. A fun event for the whole family. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in costumes and bring their fishing poles. Prizes are awarded for the largest fish and the Best Dressed Huck Finn and Becky Thatcher.
Huntington Beach Civil War Reenactment – usually held the first week of September.
Cruise of Lights Boat Tour – Annual narrated cruise through the waterways of Huntington Harbour to see the holiday lighted homes and holiday decorations. Usually held for several days in December.
